I also want to teach you a four move checkmate known as the Scholar's Mate.

It's a very famous checkmate that beginners like to play.

Many newcomers think that everything is defended and that they can attack the queen.

Black defends the pawn. 

2...Nf6 attacks the queen but drops the e5-pawn.

With the Black pieces, you have to remember 3...g6.

But White has a checkmate with Qxf7#. 

This is the famous four move checkmate known as the Scholar's Mate. 

By no means is this forced: Black can defend with 3...g6.

This is the start of the Scholar's mate. It's a direct attack on e5 but also has ideas of attacking f7.

White wins a pawn with check and will defend their pawn on e4.

The queen moves away. But it is very tricky. 

Black still has to defend.

Black can block the queen's view of f7 and thus prevent checkmate.

3. Bc4 is an attack on f7. 

White is threatening checkmate in one. 

Many beginners blunder this.
